Family of Four Killed in Crash on Highway 152 near San Luis Reservoir
LOS BANOS, CA (May 26, 2019) – A family of four were killed in a car accident Sunday evening in Los Banos, authorities said.
The collision happened around 8:30 p.m., on Highway 152 just east of the San Luis Reservoir.
According to reports, a 2017 Nissan Altima was traveling east before eventually crossing the median into westbound lanes for unknown reasons. The driver also veered across a dirt shoulder before striking a nearby tree.
The collision consequently severed the car into two pieces. All four occupants were killed instantly due to the impact.
Officers identified the deceased as Samuel Soto, 40, his two sons Nicolas Soto, 9, Diego Soto, 2, and Alondra Lara-Montes, 22. All victims were from Pomona. They were returning home after visiting the Bay Area.
Lara-Montes’ parents and siblings were driving in a separate car behind them, and witnessed the dramatic crash, according to a GoFundMe page set up to assist with funeral expenses.
All, except Lara-Montes who was pregnant, had been wearing seatbelts. The 2-year-old boy was in a car seat.
Further investigation of this crash is still currently underway.
