Olympia Man Hospitalized in Two-Car Crash on Highway 12 Near Ethel
LEWIS COUNTY, WA (January 26, 2018) – 29-year-old Samer M. Allababidi was injured in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 12 about two miles east of Ethel, on Friday morning around 7:35 AM.
The Olympia man was driving a blue 2000 Dodge Caravan, when he pulled over to the shoulder of the eastbound 12 freeway. Allababidi tried to make a u-turn and drove into the path of a black Hyundai Santa Fe sport utility vehicle, driven by 49-year-old Lesley K. Schroeder of Mossyrock.
Schroeder was not injured in the accident, but Allababidi was taken to the Providence Centralia Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. There is no information on his current condition.
Both vehicles were totaled in the accident. Police say that the crash was caused by distracted driving and that drugs and alcohol were not involved. Allababidi was cited for failure to yield while making a turn and driving with a suspended license.
It is important to stay aware and alert while on the road, especially when driving on the highway. Higher speeds can result in more serious injuries and even fatalities. Keep yourself and other drivers safe by driving safely and abiding the laws of the road.
