Woman Fatally Struck by Two Cars on Highway 29 at Mee Lane
ST. HELENA, CA (August 5, 2019) – A woman was killed in a pedestrian crash Monday evening in Napa County, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The fatal crash happened just before 9:00 p.m. on Highway 29 at Mee Lane. According to the CHP, the woman was walking across the road when she was struck by two southbound vehicles, driven by 18-year-old Madison Degraw of Winters and 38-year-old Julianna Beard of Napa.
The victim was trapped under one of the vehicles and had to be extricated by the paramedics. Despite life-saving efforts, she did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Napa County Coroner identified the victim Tuesday afternoon as Samantha Lin, 25, from Raleigh, North Carolina.
The incident closed the highway for an hour and a half between Rutherford Road and Zinfandel Lane, the CHP said.
It is unknown if intoxication was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
