Samanta Varrelman and Others Injured in Vehicle Collision on State Route 97 [Orondo, WA]

Orondo, WA (July 16, 2023) – On Saturday afternoon, 30-year-old Samanta Varrelman of Pateros and others were injured in a vehicle collision on State Route 97.

Washington State Troopers said Varrelman was northbound on SR 97 north of Orondo when she failed to stop for a vehicle in front of her. Varrelman rear-ended the SUV driven by Jose Valencia-Campuzano of Orosi. 

Valencia-Campuzano was not injured in the collision but his three passengers were. One of his passengers was airlifted to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.

Varrelman was also injured and was treated at the scene by EMTs.

Moreover, the investigating officers discovered that Valencia-Campuzano was under the influence at the time of the accident. Officers charged him with DUI.

Troopers also stated that Varrelman’s failure to yield caused the vehicle collision on State Route 97. She will likely be cited accordingly.
