2 Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Collision near Old Lakeville No. 3 Road
SONOMA COUNTY, CA (August 8, 2018) – Two people were injured Wednesday morning, following a head-on crash on Lakeville Highway.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at about 7:10 AM. A Toyota Tacoma, driven by 31-year-old Salvador Becerra‑Vallejo of Vallejo, was traveling north when it drifted into the southbound lane. The pickup truck sideswiped an empty tank trailer, before colliding head-on with a Lexus sedan.
Becerra‑Vallejo was transported to Napa’s Queen of the Valley Medical Center with major injuries. Meanwhile, the Lexus driver, 32-year-old Claire Wieszcyk of Petaluma, was taken to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the tank trailer, identified as a Novato man, did not sustain any injuries.
A witness claimed that the Tacoma’s tire blew out before the crash happened. However, an investigation is ongoing to verify the statement and to determine possible contributing factors. Additional details were not provided to the public at this time.
