Gurdeep Sidhu Arrested after Hit-and-Run Accident in Sacramento
SACRAMENTO, CA (January 24, 2018) – An elderly woman and a young boy sustained serious injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Freeport Boulevard in south Sacramento.
The crash happened around 4 PM on Wednesday, in the area of Freeport Boulevard at Oregon Drive. Police confirmed that a driver hit the woman and child and fled the scene. Victims of the crash, a 71-year-old woman and a 6-year-old boy, sustained major injuries and were both were transported to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment.
Gurdeep Sidhu, 22, was identified as the hit-and-run driver. Sidhu turned himself in to the police around 6:45 PM the same night of the accident. He was arrested on charges for felony hit-and-run.
Traffic was rerouted on Freeport Boulevard between Virginia and Murietta Ways. The roads were closed off for several hours during investigation and transportation of the victims. Roadways reopened just before 7:30 PM.
