Driver Leaves Scene in Sacramento Crash that Kills Passenger

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (April 20, 2019) – One person was killed following a hit-and-run accident on Fruitridge Road and Mendocino Boulevard Saturday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened around 9:51 p.m. at the intersection of Fruitridge Road and Mendocino Boulevard.
 
According to an initial dispatch, an Acura SUV crashed into a power pole. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they located an unconscious person in the front passenger seat.
 
Despite life-saving measures, the unidentified victim did not survive and was declared dead.
 
Witnesses told officers the driver ran away before police arrived.
 
The South Sacramento CHP investigators have not said what led to the crash but suspect the driver was impaired.
 
No additional information was provided at this time. Further investigation of this incident is underway.
