Fatal Auto Collision on Mack Road in Sacramento
SACRAMENTO, CA (March 3, 2019) – One unidentified victim was killed following a car accident on Highway 99, early Sunday morning.
State officials received calls about the collision around 12:30 a.m. First responders arrived to the scene just north of the Mack Road on-ramp.
According to highway patrol, a small car was traveling north on the freeway when it struck the center divider and spun out as a result.
When officers arrived, the wrecked vehicle was found in the middle of the highway. Furthermore, debris were strewn throughout the lanes of the highway.
An ambulance was then quickly dispatched to the scene. Due to the impact of the collision, one occupant was suffering from serious injuries and taken to a nearby hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim did not survive and was pronounced dead.
All lanes of the highway were closed until around 12:46 p.m., as crews worked to cleanup and finalize preliminary investigation.
No identifying information has been released at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
