Afternoon Rollover Crash on Highway 50 in Sacramento Kills 1 and Injures Another
SACRAMENTO, CA (January 1, 2019) – A man was killed following a rollover crash Tuesday afternoon on Highway 50 in Sacramento, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
The fatal crash happened around 4:55 p.m. on the westbound direction of the highway at Watt Avenue off-ramp.
An initial dispatch indicated that a gray Infiniti SUV was driving recklessly when it crashed into a sound barrier wall and overturned on its roof.
When officers arrived, the car was smoking and blocking the slow lane. Two people were found trapped inside the car with significant injuries. Crews had to remove them from the mangled vehicle.
Tragically, one of them did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased was only identified as a Sacramento man.
The second patient was transported to a local hospital in an unknown condition.
The crash closed two lanes of the highway, causing bumper-to-bumper traffic.
The incident remains under investigation.
