21-Year-Old Tuolumne Woman Dies in Rollover Crash on Highway 108 at Hess Avenue
SONORA, CA (May 16, 2019) – A woman was killed following a rollover crash Thursday evening in Sonora, authorities said.
The Tuolumne County Coroner’s Office on Friday afternoon identified the woman as 21-year-old Sabrina Thomas.
Thomas was driving her white 1991 Chevrolet 1500 westbound on Highway 108 approaching Hess Avenue at about 8:30 p.m. For unknown reasons, she allowed her vehicle to cross over solid double yellow lines and across the eastbound lane while traveling on a downhill grade. The vehicle drove off the southbound side of the highway and down an embankment.
Thomas, a sole occupant, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the pickup truck as it rolled over several times.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
The CHP suspects alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
During this moment of grief, we would like to extend our sincere sympathies and thoughts of courage and comfort to the family and friends of Sabrina Thomas.
