Fatal Traffic Collision at Wentworth Street and Wheatland Avenue Intersection
SHADOW HILLS, CA (June 20, 2018) – Two people were killed Wednesday afternoon following a violent collision between a motorcycle and a luxury sedan.
As per reports, the crash took place shortly before 1:00 PM in the 10300 block of Wentworth Street. A silver Mercedes-Benz, driven by 23-year-old Ryan Blanks, turned onto Wentworth from Wheatland Avenue and collided with an eastbound motorcycle.
The impact of the collision fatally injured Blanks and the unidentified motorcyclist. Roads were temporarily closed, and it took firefighters more than three hours to clear up the scene.
Investigators claimed that speed is suspected to be the main cause of the deadly collision. Witnesses stated that the crash could have been prevented if there were enough traffic lights in the area. Residents have been asking for the improvement of the area’s lighting for some time, but they have not received a response from the authorities.
