Bicyclist Struck and Killed While Riding on State Route ID’d as Ryan B Joe
MILTON, WA (February 4, 2018) – The Washington State Patrol reported a fatal hit-and-run accident on State Route 161 and Military Road South on Wednesday morning around 2:30 AM.
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Ryan B Joe, according to King Medical examiners. He was riding south on Meridian Avenue East (Route 161), when struck by an unknown vehicle that had fled from the scene.
East Pierce Fire and Rescue arrived at the crash in the southbound lanes to find Joe lying on his back near the median. The man had been critically injured and was pronounced dead.
The driver fled after striking the man, and there were no witnesses.
All lanes of the southbound SR 161 were closed for almost six hours while authorities investigated the scene of the crash. There is currently no information about the hit-and-run driver or the vehicle involved, but there was reported to be debris seen nearby.
