Bicyclist Russell Paul Williamson Dies in Fatal Crash on South Alvernon Way in Tucson
Tucson, AZ (July 11, 2021) – Tucson Police are investigating a fatal bicycle crash on South Alvernon Way on July 2.
Police were informed on July 11 that the bicyclist identified as 55-year-old Russell Paul Williamson died.
Reportedly, the crash happened on July 2 at around 11 a.m. Authorities responded to the intersection of S. Alvernon Wy. and E. Juarez St. for a report of a serious injury crash involving a bicyclist.
Video footage from a nearby business determined that Williamson was riding his bicycle southbound on Alvernon, entering a left turn onto eastbound Jaurez. When Williamson turned, a white 2008 Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling northbound.
Police said to swerve around the pickup, the vehicle struck Williamson.
EMS then took Williamson to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Police confirmed he died on July 11.
