Pedestrian Russel Spencer Dies after Struck by Car in Montecito Accident
MONTECITO, CA ( March 23, 2019) – 58-year-old Russell Edwin Spencer of Santa Barbara was struck and killed on Highway 101 Saturday morning.
Authorities stated the crash occurred around 2:00 AM on Highway 101 near Olive Mill Road.
Initial reports stated that a pedestrian was lying on the southbound lanes of the highway when he was struck by an Infiniti. It was said the driver pulled over to check on the victim, but left the scene shortly after.
California Highway Patrol tracked down the Infiniti to Ventura. The driver’s vehicle was impounded for evidence.
CHP are searching for a 2014-2017 Dodge Durango in relation to the collision. Spokesperson Jonathan Gutierrez said the frame to the left side fog lamp was left at the scene.
