Fallbrook Man Killed in Horrific Hit-and-Run Crash on Cool Valley Road
Valley Center, CA (April 12, 2024) On Thursday, Ruperto Jesus Lopez was arrested after a fatal hit-and-run crash on Cool Valley Road that killed a 37-year-old man from Fallbrook.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the deadly crash happened at about 7 a.m., Wednesday on the 14500 block of Cool Valley Road, east of Cole Grade Road.
Reports say that the Fallbrook man was a construction flagman directing traffic on Cool Valley Road, when a tan Toyota Corolla, driven by Lopez struck the man and then fled the scene before authorities arrived.
Medics rushed the victim to the hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to the fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Meanwhile, authorities were able to arrest Lopez on Thursday, he is booked into the Vista Detention Facility. Authorities say that Lopez is facing multiple charges including felony hit and run.
Authorities are investigating the fatal crash.
