1 Killed and 4 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision near South 10th Street
SAN JOSE, CA (October 28, 2018) – A man was killed early Sunday morning following a multi-vehicle crash near South 10th Street. The victim was later identified as 23-year-old Rudy Estorga Jr, a resident of San Jose.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 4:00 AM. A black Mitsubishi, driven by the victim, was heading north on Highway 280 when it slammed into a steel bridge railing on the right side of the roadway.
The disabled vehicle was hit by a red Toyota, which was then struck by a red Nissan. After the collision, Estorga exited his vehicle and was seen laying or kneeling in the road. That was when he was struck and dragged by a fourth vehicle.
The Mitsubishi driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. A 39-year-old man was hospitalized with major injuries, while three others received treatment for minor injuries. Updates on their current medical conditions were not available.
Alcohol and drugs were ruled out as possible contributing factors in the fatal crash, which remains under investigation. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
