52-Year-Old Male Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Collision on San Pablo Dam Road in Contra Costa County
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (May 4, 2020) – Wednesday evening, 52-year-old Rudolph Allen of Pinole, was killed in a pedestrian accident on San Pablo Dam Road.
California Highway Patrol say a 57-year-old driver of an eastbound 1998 Toyota Camry struck Allen in the 3600 block of San Pablo Dam Road around 8:25 p.m. The driver then stopped and has been cooperative with the investigation.
There were numerous reports about the pedestrian that are conflicting. According to a friend, Allen was attempting to get his property after it was thrown into the road by someone. However, California Highway Patrol are still investigating the events leading up to the collision.
Meanwhile, authorities also clarified that the area had no marked crosswalk and was extremely dark. The agency added that the driver involved simply did not notice Allen.
The surrounding area on San Pablo Dam Road was closed off for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. However, the roadway has since reopened.
At this time, the police are not filing any criminal charges. Once available, more details will be given.
