Ruben Hernandez and Another Killed in Wells Road Rear-End Crash [Ventura County, CA]

Ventura County, CA (October 30, 2021) – On Friday, 33-year-old Ruben Hernandez of Oxnard and his passenger, also from Oxnard, died in a rear-end crash on Wells Road.

The fatal crash occurred shortly before 10 p.m. over Highway 126 in the Saticoy area.

Hernandez and his unidentified passenger, also from were traveling in a 2003 Mitsubishi Montero SUV when the crash happened.

Officers said both Hernandez and his passenger were wearing seat belts.

Moreover, police said Hernandez drove the Mitsubishi southbound on Wells Road, approaching Henderson Road.

At the same time, a 2017 Freightliner driven by a 64-year-old Fillmore man, exited from the eastbound 126. 

Reports said that the big rig driver also wore a seat belt that time. He turned left onto northbound Wells Road.

As the Freightliner was completing its left turn, the Mitsubishi rear-ended the big rig’s trailer. Then, the Mitsubishi caught fire and the SUV was stuck under the trailer.

Hernandez and his passenger both died at the accident scene.

On the other hand, the big rig driver was not injured in the crash.
