Ruben Baltazar Arrested, Man Fatally Injured in Lemoore DUI Crash
LEMOORE, CA (June 12, 2019) – Officers arrested Ruben Baltazar after striking and killing a pedestrian in a DUI crash on Monday, June 10.
According to California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 1:30 a.m. on Jersey Avenue and 18th Avenue near Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino.
CHP stated that a 51-year-old Ruben Baltazar drove a 2013 Kia Soul westbound when he struck a 42-year-old man walking in the westbound lane. The pedestrian died.
Baltazar drove with 48-year-old Hilda Baltazar as a passenger at the time of the crash. Both were not hurt in the incident.
CHP arrested Ruben Baltazar for driving under the influence. They booked him into the Kings County Jail for charges of gross vehicular manslaughter with a DUI and a DUI causing bodily injury, both felonies.
Officials set his bail at $115,000 as of Tuesday morning.
Authorities have not released the identity of the pedestrian. The crash is still under investigation by CHP.
