RPD Officer Matthew Lewis Dies in Motorcycle Collision on Pico Avenue [Perris, CA]

Perris, CA (August 03, 2022) – On Monday, Riverside Police Department Officer Matthew Lewis, a 45-year-old Nuevo resident, died in a motorcycle collision on Pico Avenue.

It was about  7:15 p.m. when the off-duty crash took place near the crossing of Santa Rosa Road.

There was no information if the driver of the pickup involved in the crash sustained injuries. 

In the meantime, the authorities are investigating the Santa Rosa Road traffic collision. 

“Matt grew up in Riverside and was a 25-year veteran at RPD where he excelled as a Cadet, Police Officer, Detective, and Sergeant working a variety of assignments.” says Chief Larry Gonzalez with the Riverside Police Department.
