Two People Injured in Accident at the Intersection of US Highway 97 and Progressive Road
TOPPENISH, WA (April 22, 2018) – Two people were hospitalized after a car accident that took place at the intersection of Progressive Road and the US Highway 97, early Sunday afternoon.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the accident took place around 12:48 PM. 73-year-old John Schei was driving westbound in a 2006 Cadillac DTS on Progressive, when he failed to stop at the intersection with Highway 97, striking a car.
The northbound 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt that was hit sustained damages. The driver, 63-year-old Wayne Ervin of Yakima was not injured in the accident. His passenger, 61-year-old Rosanna Ervin, sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital in Yakima for further evaluation and treatment. Schei was also injured from the impact and taken to the hospital. All three were reportedly wearing seatbelts.
The roadway had to be blocked for some time sometime will authorities investigated, the victims were transported, and the vehicles were towed. Troopers cited Schei for failure to yield the right of way, and do not believe that drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in this incident.
