Police Asks for Help Finding Suspect Ilya Foks in Deadly Head-On Crash in Echo Park
ECHO PARK, CA (January 24, 2020) – A woman died in a head-on crash Friday morning in Echo Park, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The collision happened around 7:45 a.m., on Sunset Boulevard and Douglas Street.
Police said a 2019 BMW M4 was heading west on Sunset Boulevard when it collided head-on into a 2004 Toyota Corolla.
Paramedics took the Toyota driver to a nearby hospital where she eventually succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the BMW fled the scene on foot, without rendering aid.
The deceased female victim was later identified as Rosa Garcia, 61, of Los Angeles.
Some nearby witnesses captured video footage of the suspect, later identified as 39-year-old Ilya Foks, as he walked from the scene.
Police described Foks as white, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, 190 pounds, with blond hair and green eyes.
He was last seen wearing a blue collared shirt with a gray sweater, black pants with NBA logos, white and black Jordan brand high top shoes and carrying a brown bag. In addition, Foks is known to frequent the West Hollywood, Echo Park and Silver Lake areas.
According to Los Angeles County Superior Court records, Foks has a lengthy criminal history in the county dating back nearly two decades.
Prior convictions include drug possession and misappropriation of lost property in 2018; burglary in 2017; receiving stolen property and drug possession in 2007; grand theft in 2004; and stalking in 2003.
The city offers a standing $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest.
