Man in Wheelchair Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver at Brawley and McKinley Avenues
FRESNO, CA (January 24, 2020) – A man in a wheelchair died in a hit-and-run crash Friday night in northwest Fresno, police said.
The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Brawley Avenue and McKinley Avenue.
According to Fresno Police Department, the man was crossing the street when a white 4×4 pickup truck hit him. The driver did not stop after the crash.
Paramedics arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office identified him on Saturday as Ronnie Rodriguez, 53, of Fresno.
Police said the area has no sidewalks, crosswalks or street lights.
A portion of Brawley Avenue was closed between McKinley and Clinton avenues for the investigation.
