2 Dead in Dateland Plane Accident on Spot Road and Interstate 8
DATELAND, AZ (September 19, 2022) – Friday afternoon, Ron Barba and Marcela Orozco Barba died in a plane crash on Spot Road.
The incident happened just before 2:00 p.m. on Spot Road and Interstate 8. According to reports, a DPS trooper noticed a large plume of smoke while patrolling Spot Road near Dateland.
When the trooper arrived at the scene, they located a small aircraft in the desert fully engulfed in flames.
Then, responders found a pilot and a passenger who both died at the scene. Officers confirmed that the aircraft was a Van’s RV-6 two-seater plane.
At this time, the cause of the crash remained unknown. Meanwhile, family members identified the deceased victims as Ron Barba and Marcela Orozco Barba.
Moreover, reports said that the plane had departed from San Diego and was headed to Nogales.
