Pala, CA (June 1, 2020)– On Saturday, a single-car crash on State Route 76 and Pala del Norte road left 1 man dead, and resulted in the arrest of Juan Hart.
The fatal overnight crash occurred on May 30 around 11:09 p.m. when the vehicle Hart drove crossed the double yellow lines and into wrong way traffic.
Hart, 53, lost control, slid into the embankment that borders the north side of the roadway and overturned, according to the CHP.
A resident in the area even heard the silver 2006 Infiniti G35 crash.
The vehicle rolled over which caused Hart’s passaenger to be trapped inside, said Yajhaira Martinez, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher.
The passenger was later pronounced dead at the scene at 12:26 a.m. on Sunday. Their identity remains unreleased.
Moreover, Hart, a Garden Grove resident, was sent to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Authorities later arrested him for suspicion of driving under the influence.
