WSP Investigates Rollover Accident near Old Fairhaven Parkway

Whatcom County, WA (March 6, 2023) – On Saturday evening, a rollover crash on Interstate 5 resulted in injuries among 5 teenagers.

Washington State Patrol (WSP) responded to the rollover accident around 10:45 p.m. south of the Old Fairhaven Parkway (SR11) interchange.

Reports say that a northbound white 2018 Hyundai Elantra veered off the roadway and rollover multiple times and ended up on its roof on the left shoulder of the highway.

Authorities identified the driver and a passenger as a 17-year-old female from Ferndale, and a 17-year-old female from Lake Forest Park. Meanwhile, 3 other passengers were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. A 16-year-old female from Ferndale, a 15-year-old female from Lynden, and an 18-year-old male from Ferndale.

Medics transported all injured parties to PeaceHealth St Joseph’s Medical Center. 

Troopers say that speed played a factor in the rollover crash, however, authorities are investigating to find the probable cause of the crash.
