Laveen, AZ (March 22, 2024) Early Thursday morning, a GRPD officer was injured and hospitalized after a rollover crash on Baseline Road.

According to the Gila River Police Department (GRPD), the rollover crash happened around 2:30 a.m. near 63rd Avenue and Baseline Road.

Reports say that a marked police vehicle was struck by another vehicle, leaving the police vehicle with heavy damages and on its roof. Meanwhile, the other vehicle had front-end damage.

Officials say that the officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver and passenger of the other vehicle fled the scene on foot. Phoenix officers later found and arrested both people.

Police say that alcohol impairment is a possible factor in the crash.
