Traffic Blocked after Seattle Rollover Crash on 5 Freeway
SEATTLE, WA (May 16, 2019) – The northbound lanes of 5 Freeway were shut down at the convention center after a rollover accident in Seattle.
Just before 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, a box truck crashed with a vehicle directly under the Washington State Convention Center. This is the portion of the convention center that passes over the freeway.
According to the Seattle Fire Department, all passengers were able to get exit their vehicles after the collision.
There were no injuries reported following the incident.
While all northbound lanes were initially shut down, vehicles were able to use the shoulder to get by the scene. There was a six-mile backup reported behind the incident.
The ramp onto the 5 Freeway around University Street remained closed while officers continued their investigation. The freeway’s main lanes reopened around 9:45 a.m.
