David Bunch Involved in Strathmore Crash Injuring Roger Rea

Strathmore, CA (August 18, 2021) – On Wednesday, 37-year-old Roger Rea of Visalia, suffered injuries in a pedestrian accident on Avenue 196, involving 62-year-old David Bunch, also of Visalia.

The pedestrian crash took place at about 8:55 p.m., east of Orange Belt Drive.

Investigating officers said Rea was standing on the north shoulder of the roadway. At the same time, Bunch was driving a 2016 Ford F-350 westbound on the Number 1 lane at 35 mph.

For reasons still being investigated, Rea ran across Avenue 196 in a southerly direction, outside a marked crosswalk. He went directly into the path of Bunch.

Bunch applied the vehicle’s brakes but still hit Rea, who was launched forward and rested upon the roadway.

Immediately, emergency rescuers took Rea via ground ambulance to Kaweah Health Medical Center with major injuries.

Officers said Rea was alert and responsive at the scene of the traffic accident. They are still investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, here are some things that we can do to avoid accidents that could result in serious injuries.

Always follow the speed limit and never use your phone; always be cautious of your surroundings.

Pedestrian Accidents Sometimes Result in Injuries

Moreover, in today’s current state of affairs, more individuals are walking as a new way to escape home for a while.

As a result, pedestrian accidents have also spiked in popularity, so has the risk of pedestrian accidents.

Pedestrian accidents are incidents in which someone walking or crossing a road is injured by a vehicle striking them.

Indeed, pedestrian accidents can be avoided.

A common cause of these unfortunate incidents includes drivers speeding. Similarly, motorists who speed do not have enough reaction time to stop or yield for us injuries.

– First, always avoid dangerous behaviors: always walk on the sidewalk (no jaywalking), stay sober, and make eye contact with drivers, don’t assume the driver can see you.

– Then, closely look before you step: cross streets at marked crosswalks/intersections. In addition, obey traffic signals, and watch for turning vehicles.
