BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 17, 2024) – Sunday morning, Rodolfo Pulgarin Monarrez died in a brutal single-vehicle crash on Highway 99 near Wible Road.

The incident happened on Highway 99 near Wible Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a southbound Ford truck veered off the roadway for still unknown reasons and struck a metal guardrail. Then, the force of the crash pushed the truck southbound where it collided with a concrete pillar of the Wible Road over-crossing.

Moreover, responders pronounced two people, including 18-year-old Monarrez, dead at the scene.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the California Highway Patrol continued to investigate the crash.
