1 Killed and 1 Injured in Toppenish Crash on Highway 97
TOPPENISH, WA (November 5, 2020) – On Friday afternoon, a crash on Highway 97 killed Robert Yates in Toppenish, Washington.
According to Washington State Patrol, 55-year-old Robert G. Yates drove a Chevrolet Spark on U.S. Highway 97. Then, he suddenly crossed from the southbound lane into the northbound lane and struck a 2000 Dodge Caravan.
When responders arrived, they pronounced Robert Yates dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Dodge Caravan, 48-year-old Bret A. Wachter from Goldendale was transported to Virginia Mason Memorial hospital in Yakima.
Moreover, reports revealed that both drivers were restrained at the time of the incident.
The incident is under investigation.
