64-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Auto Accident near Lincoln Avenue in Riverside
RIVERSIDE, CA (May 14, 2020) – Late Wednesday morning, 64-year-old Robert Stockton of Riverside was fatally struck by a car on Victoria Avenue.
Riverside Police Officer Ryan Railsback says the accident occurred around 10:55 a.m. According to reports, Stockton was jogging west on Victoria Avenue, between Horace Street and Lincoln Avenue. There, a 2014 Dodge minivan struck him from behind.
Upon the impact, the 65-year-old female driver of the involved vehicle stopped and reported the incident to 911. When the Riverside Fire Department paramedics arrived, they declared Stockton dead on scene due to the extent of injuries sustained.
Furthermore, police do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a factor.
The surrounding area on Victoria Avenue was closed off for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. However, the roadway has since reopened to traffic.
