48-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle near Sunset Boulevard
HOLLYWOOD, CA (March 31, 2018) – A man trying to cross the 101 Freeway near Sunset Boulevard was hit and fatally injured by a car, on Saturday evening. The victim was later identified to be 48-year-old Robert Sanderlin, a resident of Los Angeles.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 10:55 PM. A 2007 Honda Accord was heading north when the 21-year-old driver struck Sanderlin. He was seen crossing from the southbound lanes, over the median, and into the northbound lanes, just south of Hollywood Boulevard.
The driver stated that she had seen him crossing but was not able to stop in time to avoid the collision. Sanderlin was declared dead at the scene of the accident, while the driver did not receive any injuries.
