1 Dead in San Luis Obispo Auto Accident on O’Connor Way and Foothill Boulevard

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (October 6, 2024) – Saturday morning, Robert Hess died in a brutal crash on O’Connor Way and Foothill Boulevard.

The incident involving a white Ford Focus happened at around 11:08 a.m. on O’Connor Way, north of Foothill Boulevard.

Officers’ investigation revealed that the car was heading southbound on O’Connor Way at an unknown speed when the driver lost control at a curve in the road. The vehicle’s front end went down into an embankment, causing the Ford to overturn and become airborne before crashing into a nearby field.

Authorities reported that the passenger, 20-year-old Hess from Temecula, was killed in the crash. The driver, 21-year-old Carlos CardonRios from Murrieta, sustained minor injuries.

Officials stated that the cause of the crash is still under investigation, though drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be factors. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Adrianse at the San Luis Obispo CHP office at (805) 594-8700.
