Fresno County Crash Claims Life of Speeding Driver After Running Red Light
Fresno County, CA (November 5, 2024) On Sunday evening, 25-year-old Robert Garcia was killed in a suspected DUI crash on Highway 41, that left a 34-year-old woman hurt.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 2-vehicle collision happened at about 9 p.m. at the intersection with Mountain View Avenue.
Investigators in Fresno County are examining whether drugs or alcohol contributed to a fatal crash that occurred at the intersection of Highway 41 and Mountain View Avenue.
Authorities say that Garcia was speeding northbound in a Camaro on Highway 41 when he ran a red light and collided with a Nissan SUV. Inside the SUV were a 34-year-old woman and two children.
Garcia was pronounce dead at the scene of the crash. Initially, authorities mistakenly identified him as an 18-year-old but later corrected his age to 25.
Officials say that the woman sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital, while the two children were unharmed. F
Following the collision with the woman’s vehicle, Garcia also struck a light pole, causing the Camaro to split into two pieces. As a result, a section of Highway 41 and Mountain View Avenue was closed while investigators examined the scene.
