49-Year-Old Bicyclist Struck and Killed by Truck on Pomona Boulevard near 57 Freeway
POMONA, CA (February 14, 2018) – A 49-year-old bicyclist was killed after colliding with a truck, around 4:22 AM on Wednesday.
Robert Evans was struck and killed by the driver of a semi-truck at the 2800 block of Pomona Boulevard, a block east of the 57 Freeway. According to a street view image, the crash occurred on a wide two-lane street with a center turn lane in an industrial area. There was also a wide parking lane that might have been empty at the time of the collision.
There was also a brief video released by KCBS-2 showing that Evans was thrown off his bicycle a significant distance from the crash site which makes it appear that the truck driver may have been driving at high speeds. Reportedly, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
