Sonora Man Killed in Jamestown Pedestrian Crash on Highway 49 and Main Street
JAMESTOWN, CA (March 1, 2022) – Friday night, a deadly pedestrian accident on Highway 49 and Main Street involved Robert Campbell.
The incident happened at around 6:40 p.m. on Highway 49, north of Main Street.
According to reports, 65-year-old Robert Campbell of Modesto drove a northbound 2022 Chevrolet pickup. Then, the pedestrian on the shoulder suddenly went into the northbound vehicle lane. However, Campbell couldn’t stop in time.
As a result, the 35-year-old male pedestrian from Sonora sustained injuries. Responders took him to Adventist Health Sonora hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, Campbell suffered no injuries in the crash.
At this time, the authorities do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. Due to the limited information available, the crash remains under active investigation.
