Robert Barajas Killed, Thomas Geiger Jr. Injured after Yucca Valley Traffic Accident
YUCCA VALLEY, CA (October 21, 2019) – A 24-year-old Yucca Valley man identified as Robert Barajas died in a crash on Saturday, October 19.
The accident occurred at 6:33 a.m. on Twentynine Palms Highway near Indio Avenue.
According to investigators, a 22-year-old Yucca Valley resident Thomas Geiger Jr. drove a Honda Civic eastbound on Twentynine Palms Highway. After that, he tried to make a left turn onto Indio Avenue. Then the Civic was struck by a patrol car moving westbound on Twentynine Palms Highway.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department stated that Geiger did not have time to complete the turn.
The passenger in the front seat of the Civic, Robert Barajas, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt during the incident.
The sheriff’s deputy involved in the crash received treatment at an area hospital and was later released.
Emergency personnel rushed Geiger to a hospital and is in stable condition.
