19-Year-Old Risten Lee Robinson Dead After DUI High-speed Crash on Interstate 10 Frontage in Tucson

Tucson, AZ (September 29, 2024) – On Saturday morning, 19-year-old Risten Lee Robinson died, and four others sustained injuries in a DUI high-speed crash on Interstate 10 Frontage.

Just before 2:30 a.m., TPD and the Tucson Fire Department responded to a collision between a Chevrolet Silverado and a Kia Niro at I-10 Frontage and West Silverlake Road.

Emergency responders transported the Silverado’s driver and five passengers to Banner University Medical Center, where they received treatment for various injuries. 

The Niro’s driver, who suffered minor injuries, and her passenger, who was unharmed, remained at the scene.

One of the Silverado’s passengers, 19-year-old Risten Lee Robinson, died at the hospital, as reported by TPD. 

During their investigation, TPD determined that both the Silverado and Niro drivers were impaired by alcohol and/or drugs at the time of the crash. 

The Niro had been traveling westbound on West Silverlake Road and was turning left onto Frontage Road when the Silverado, speeding southbound on Frontage Road, collided with the back of the Niro.

The impact caused the Silverado to spin and roll over, ejecting five of the passengers. 

TPD concluded that the Silverado driver’s excessive speed and impaired condition were the primary factors contributing to the crash. 

The investigation is ongoing.
