Rick Bermudez Died, William Castro Arrested after DUI Crash on Union Avenue Bakersfield
Bakersfield, CA (May 21, 2020)– On Wednesday night, Rick Bermudez died while police arrested a 24-year-old William Castro in a suspected DUI crash on Union Avenue and 4th Street.
The crash occurred at around 11:50 p.m. on May 20. Bakersfield police arrived and located a vehicle and the pedestrian down at the scene.
Reportedly, a motorist driving through the intersection of Union Avenue and 4th Street struck Mr. Bermudez.

The pedestrian died on the spot.
Meanwhile, Castro remained uninjured, and police arrested him.
At this time, he is facing charges of DUI and driving without a license. Authorities booked Castro into the Kern County Jail.
This accident is the 11th fatal car accident within BPD’s jurisdiction in 2020. Furthermore, Bakersfield police continue the investigation and asking anyone with helpful information to call 327-7111.
