Major Injuries Sustained in Morning Collision with Motorcycle on 80 Freeway in Richmond
RICHMOND, CA (February 7, 2019) – A motorcyclist was badly injured following a three-vehicle collision Thursday morning on 80 Freeway in Richmond.
The collision happened around 5:41 a.m. along the westbound lanes of the freeway, just East of Central Avenue off-ramp.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a motorcycle, a black Toyota Prius and a third vehicle were involved for unknown reasons. The impact sent both the bike and the rider down on the roadway.
When officers arrived, they located the rider lying on the ground with major injuries. An ambulance unit was dispatched to the scene and took the patient to a hospital in an unknown condition.
Three freeway lanes were blocked during the rescue and clearing operations.
An ongoing investigation continues to determine the ultimate cause of the accident and liability.
