Richi Pierce Dead after Mokelumne Hill Motorcycle Crash
MOKELUMNE HILL, CA (December 11, 2018) – A rider died after his motorcycle crashed into a tree on Highway 26 on Sunday, December 9.
At around 2:15 p.m., the CHP responded to a motorcycle accident on Highway 26 east of Mokelumne Hill near Sport Hill Road in eastern Calaveras County.
Upon arrival, they found the rider deceased. He was identified as 54-year-old Richi Pierce, of Stockton.
Pierce was reportedly riding a 2001 Harley Davidson Sportster eastbound on Highway 26 in between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at an undetermined speed when he failed to negotiate a curve, and then drove onto the right shoulder and collided into a tree. He was thrown off from his motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries, the CHP said.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing and it is unknown if drugs and/or alcohol played a role.
