Richard Urzúa in Coma Following South Gate Hit-And-Run Crash
SOUTH GATE, CA (September 17, 2020) – On Sunday, Richard Urzúa, 58, suffered serious injuries in a crash on Long Beach Boulevard.
The crash occurred at about 12:30 p.m. on Long Beach Boulevard and Indiana Avenue intersection in South Gate.
According to reports, the male pedestrian crossed the South Gate intersection to pickup food and medicine.
Then, a black Crysler 300 with black tinted windows suddenly struck him.
Due to the hit-and-run crash, the vehicle sustained damage to its front driver’s side. The South Gate police also said that the driver’s side mirror seemed broken. Moreover, the driver is still currently at large.
As a result of the incident, Urzúa is currently hospitalized in critical condition. He is in a coma, suffering from serious brain damage.
His family said that he was the eldest of eight siblings and a caretaker to his parents who contracted COVID.
