Man on Wheelchair Fatally Struck in Costa Mesa
Costa Mesa, CA (January 22, 2022) – On Thursday, 50-year-old Richard Smith of Newport Beach died in a Newport Boulevard hit-and-run crash.
Officers responded to the crash scene at about 11:30 p.m. at the Industrial Way intersection.
When they arrived at the scene, the authorities found Smith injured and knocked out of his wheelchair.
Immediately, they rushed him to a hospital, where he later died.
Moreover, officers say the involved vehicle is a 2009-2010 black Toyota Highlander with front-end damage.
