Richard Ruiz Killed in Car Versus Train Collision in Kingsburg
KINGSBURG, CA (August 23, 2019) – A 65-year-old man died Wednesday evening after his car collided with a train in Kingsburg.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Richard Ruiz of Kingsburg.
The police said the collision occurred at around 5 p.m. near the intersection of Sierra Street and Simpson Street. Ruiz was driving the Honda Civic which collided with a southbound Union Pacific train.
A preliminary investigation showed that Ruiz tried to drive around crossing arms when the train hit his vehicle.
None in the train was injured as per Union Pacific Corporate Relations spokesman Tim McMahan.
