77-Year-old Sebastopol Man Fatally Injured in Collision near Sunny Dunes Road
PALM SPRINGS, CA (June 2, 2018) – An elderly man was fatally injured in a motorcycle collision on South Palm Canyon Drive, on Saturday evening. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 77-year-old Richard Lowry, a resident of Sebastopol.
The accident took place at the intersection of S Palm Canyon Drive and Sunny Dunes Road, around 9:40 PM. According to the Palm Springs Police, Lowry was riding his three-wheeled Slingshot motorcycle when he collided with a Chevrolet sedan.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other motorist was uninjured in the collision.
The intersection was closed fo several hours while officials investigated and cleared the road. They do not believe that drugs and alcohol were contributing factors in the fatal incident. No additional information has been released to the public at this time.
