2 Fatalities Reported after Lake County Car Accident
LAKE COUNTY, CA (February 24, 2020) – Two Northshore residents succumbed to injuries after a single-car accident on Highway 20, on February 22.
Dispatchers first responded to the single-vehicle collision around 4:51 p.m. Dispatchers arrived just east of Morine Ranch Road in Clearlake Oaks shortly after.
Reports indicate that 69-year-old Richard Adams of Nice, drove a westbound blue 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The Chevy veered off and back onto the right shoulder of Highway 20 when he struck three separate trees. Authorities later pronounced Adams dead on scene.
Paramedics airlifted Adams along with a 59-year-old woman from Clearlake Oaks, to Solano County. However, she later succumbed to her injuries as well. Her identity still remains unreleased at this time.
In addition, 33-year-old Justin Hendrix of Woodland, was another passenger inside the vehicle. He suffered major injuries and was eventually airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for further treatment. However, there has been no update on his current condition.
The Chevy was found on the north shoulder of the highway, just east of the intersection of Morine Ranch Road. Crews on scene said it was only on three wheels.
Reports also revealed that Adam wore his seat belt at the time of the crash. The woman rode in the right front seat while Hendrix sat in the rear of the vehicle.
Authorities also ruled out intoxication as a factor in the collision.
