82-Year-Old Indio Cyclist Seriously Injured in SUV Collision near Glen Ellen
SONOMA VALLEY, CA (April 23, 2018) – An elderly cyclist was seriously injured in an accident involving an SUV that took place on Highway 12 near Glen Ellen, on Monday afternoon. He was later identified as 82-year-old Richard Hunt, a resident of Indio.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 2 PM. Hunt was heading west and tried to cross the Trinity Road intersection on his bicycle when an eastbound 2015 Ford Explorer, driven by 38-year-old Justin Morris of St Helena, tried to make a left turn and struck him.
Hunt sustained injuries and was rushed to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where he was listed under critical condition, according to the spokeswoman of the hospital. It was also noted that Hunt was wearing a protective helmet when the collision happened.
