Driver Arrested after Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Crash on 43rd Avenue in Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ (June 11, 2023) – Saturday night, 35-year-old Ricardo Martinez died in a crash on 43rd Avenue and Glendale Avenue.

The fatal crash happened just before 9:45 p.m. on June 10.

Phoenix Police said they found a vehicle stopped in the roadway and a man on top of the vehicle who had been seriously hurt.

The man, later identified as Martinez, was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

The man driving the vehicle was not hurt in the crash.

According to early reports, Martinez was mid-block on Glendale Avenue when he was hit by the car traveling east.

After being examined, the driver apparently displayed signs of intoxication.

He was detained and charged with aggravated DUI for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and with a suspended license.

Further investigation into this incident is ongoing.
