Ricardo Avila Perez Arrested in Nutmeg Street Traffic Crash [Murrieta, CA]

Murrieta, CA (March 8, 2024) On Tuesday, 6 people were hurt in a traffic crash on Nutmeg Street that led to the arrest of 31-year-old Ricardo Avila Perez of Perris.

According to Murrieta police, the disastrous multi-vehicle collision happened after 11 a.m. at the intersection of Nutmeg Street and Jackson Avenue.

Reports say that Murrieta police were in a 3-mile pursuit with Perez that started with a traffic violation, that led to a patrol unit attempting to stop his vehicle.

Authorities say that the vehicle Perez was driving was reported stolen. Perez sped away, prompting officials to give chase.

Ultimately, Perez ran a red light at the intersection of Nutmeg Street and Jackson Avenue and collided with 3 other vehicles.

6 people inside the 3 other vehicles sustained non-life-threatening injuries, officials say that Perez and a female passenger in his vehicle were also injured in the collision.

All injured parties were taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar.

Meanwhile, authorities placed Perez under arrest on suspicion of felony evading, possession of methamphetamine for sale, auto theft, and probation violations.

Officials say that after his release from the hospital, he will be booked into jail.
